Kidney Disease in Dogs

By 30th October 2016August 6th, 2020Latest News

Kidney Disease is a condition we more often associate with older cats. However, this last week we have had a spate of dogs going sick which have been diagnosed with kidney disease. They needed intravenous fluids to help rehydrate them and flush out the toxins which made them sick. A quick blood test showed where the problem lay, and happily, they are feeling quite a bit better after treatment. One dog had acute kidney failure, while the other was longer standing.

If your dog is looking ill, a thorough check over at the surgery will show if it is anything to be concerned about, and if intensive care is needed to help sort out the problem. With kidney disease, it is better to get early treatment to try to avoid more serious complications if possible.
